About: Chinatown Branch Art
I'm an Irish painter and landscape designer based in New York City since 1999.
I paint and draw the city with people and empty landscapes, sometimes abstracted, hopefully more so in the future. I've been supporting and doing paintings of Manchester United since I was a kid. Some of the stadium, of past players and some of the emblems, patterns and colours associated with the club. Regular contributions to United fanzine, Red News and commissioned football pieces have appeared in Bleacher Report, Pickles Magazine and Mundial and originals have appeared on the cover of the official Manchester United program. The nice people at Untapped Cities once published an interview with me - you can read it here. Brendan Higgins NYC, 2022 |
about: Chinatown Branch Art
I paint quickly and a gestural approach to painting. I like to work quickly using brushes and pallet knives, reacting to the subject matter, whether landscape or the urban environment in an expressive and semi-abstract manner.
During twenty plus years as a landscape designer, my objective has been to create systems of
order and harmony out of the untamed open space. As a painter, my aim remains much the same - to create harmony out of the turbulence of landscape or the seeming chaos of urban environments.
I hope you enjoy my efforts.
